Hungarian Journal of Hydrology special issue:
Flood protection and water management related issues in the Danube Region to share experiences, best practice and initiations
EU SDR PA4 in collaboration with PA5 developed a special issue of the Hungarian Journal of Hydrology in October, 2017. The publication was introduced to the public in the Annual Forum in Budapest.
The topics have been gathered from the Hungarian Hydrological Society annual conference where a side event had been organised on “Flood protection and water management related issues in the Danube Region to share experiences, best practice and new initiations” (information about the side event is available here).
The special issue puts an emphasis on the financial possibilities exploiting the funding opportunities of the EC and giving an overview about the running projects in relation to water management and flood issues.
An article is dealing with the importance of good ecological status for the successful revival of Danube sturgeon, which issue has also special relevance within the PA4 DTP PAC project (workpackage 3).
The PA4 as thematic pole leader of the ‘water management’ thematic pole of DTP put a big emphasis on to introduce projects of this thematic pole. The articles give an overview about the running projects and their capitalisation progress with the support of the priority areas 4 and 5, stressing the circumstances of the paralel execution of the Water Framwork Directive and the Flood Directive.
Herewith we thanks for the input of all experts contributed to the successful development of the bulletin and prepared high level articles, publications during the last months.
The Bulletin is financed by DTP-PAC1-PA4 and DTP-PAC1-PA5 projects.
