The Hungarian and Slovak ichthyologists (G. Guti and M. Kubala), the head of Szigetköz Water Engineering (R. Tatai) and PA4 experts (D. Heilmann, A. Vranovska) visited the fish passes constructed on Hungarian side of the Danube River branch system.
The aim of the meeting was to observe current constructions of fish passes and to discuss the preparation of the new project focused on the research of the fluvial ecological corridor function along the Szigetköz floodplain area.
Mr Robert Tatai provided detailed information on supplying the Danube River system by water inflow in Dunakiliti (see map – D1), introduced the fish pass at Dunasziget (built in 1998; see map – Denkpál C14) and the fish pass at Ásványráró (built in 2015; see map – AS 30). The last visited site was the floodgate and fish pass in the mouth of the Mosoni-Danube at Vének (the operation started in 2022; out of map).
Future joint project, prepared within CBC HU-SK, would be important for implementation of the Action 5 (Migratory Fish – Promote measures to enable fish migration in the Danube River basin) of the EUSDR Priority Area 4 Action Plan.
