On December 4, 2025, Comenius University Science Park in Bratislava hosted an international workshop under the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), Priority Area 4 “Water Quality”. The event focused on climate change challenges in agriculture and water management, bringing together experts and policymakers from the Danube Region.
The event featured keynote presentations from EU representatives on the Common Agricultural Policy and the EU Water Resilience Strategy, followed by sessions discussing national strategic plans, sustainable agriculture, water protection, and climate adaptation measures. Participants shared experiences from both EU member states and non-EU countries, highlighting financial mechanisms, policy approaches, and practical tools for enhancing water-friendly and climate-resilient agriculture.
The afternoon sessions presented best practices and lessons learned from transnational, national, and local perspectives, covering topics such as drought management, sustainable pesticide use, nutrient management, regenerative agriculture, beekeeping, crop breeding, and adaptive grazing management.
The workshop highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation, knowledge exchange, and practical solutions to ensure sustainable agriculture and water management in a changing climate.
Approximately 60 participants attended the workshop in person, with an additional 50 joining online. The attendees valued the latest insights and knowledge regarding the impacts of climate change on the water and agricultural sectors.
