Dear Madam/Sir,

We are pleased to invite you to the Transnational Cooperation for Sustainable River Basin Management Conference, which will take place on April 11, 2017 in Building K, Díszterem, BME University in Budapest, Hungary.

The event is organized jointly by the JOINTISZA and the DanubeSediment projects; both projects are co-funded by the European Union through the Danube Transnational Programme.

The Conference will link the JOINTISZA Project Stakeholder Involvement Event and the DanubeSediment Project Launch Event, and it will showcase goals, activities and outputs of each project. Key stakeholders from the whole Danube basin, as well as from the Tisza sub-basin (the largest sub-basin in the Danube River Basin), will gather for the conference, which will provide an opportunity for a lively discussion between the panelists, the project team and the participants.

Furthermore, the project DANUrB, also co-funded by the European Union, will be presented during the official inauguration. For further information please find attached the draft Agenda.

The JOINTISZA project started at the beginning of January 2017 and will last 30 months. The project will involve the joint efforts of the five countries that share the Tisza River Basin — Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine. It will focus on the interactions of two key aspects of water management — river basin management (RBM) and flood protection — while taking into account the relevant stakeholders who play a pivotal role in the Tisza RBM planning process. The main output of the project will be an updated final draft of the Integrated Tisza RBM Plan, which already includes the primary aspects of the Floods Directive. In January 2017, the international DanubeSediment project was launched. Goal of the project is to improve the sediment management in the Danube River and its tributaries. Through transnational cooperation, DanubeSediment closes knowledge-gaps, drafts a first common Danube sediment balance and develops guidance for the implementation of measures. DANUrB – a regional network building through tourism and education to strengthen the “Danube” cultural identity and solidarity. Cultural network aims to strengthen the Danube regional cultural identity and to create a common brand by fostering transnational cultural ties between the settlements along the Danube, and by exploring the unused or hidden cultural and social capital resources for a better economic and cultural return.
